To request furniture items (that would be classified as basic need, bed, kitchen table and chairs, stove, refrigerator or washer dryer for families with children) please use the food pantry and make a request through a blue card during your check-in with the volunteer receptionist. You will need to provide a photo ID as well as a lease OR utility bill. After your request is processed and approved, you will be contacted by our furniture volunteer coordinator for a friendly visit to to see what furniture will fit in your house, trailer or apartment. Once that has occured you will be on the wait list. When furniture is available, another furniture coordinator will call you to arrange a delivery of items.
If you are on the 2nd or 3rd floor of an apartment complex, please be aware that we do not carry furniture up steps. We will place the furniture at the foot of the steps. The volunteer coordinators will all remind you that you need to have family or friends lined up to assist you to get it up the steps to your apartment, OR up to the 2nd floor of your home.
You do not need a referral to make a furniture request! As long as you are a Hamilton County resident and MHC client, you are eligible to apply for furniture.
Clients are required to use the Merciful HELP Center Food Pantry before requesting furniture. Continued use of the Food Pantry is encouraged while awaiting furniture.
We may not be able to provide all the furniture you need, we will do our best to help you, but there are no guarantees that we will have all the items you want when we deliver.
Please keep in mind:
