HCTA is overseeing the Federal Emergency Rental Assistance that was awarded to Hamilton County, Indiana. This grant will provide rental assistance to those who live in Hamilton County who have been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic; This includes rental assistance, utilities, and other unforeseen bills. FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION  

THE MERCIFUL HELP CENTER FINANCIAL AID OPEN.
Financial aid can be applied for on a limited basis to people who live in Hamilton County. In order to be considered for this help, you must go to your local township trustee's office first and gain whatever government aid that is available to you.  A decision letter from your township trustee within Hamilton County, that is less that one year old, is necessary if you are eligible for aid. When Energy Assistance Program, known as EAP is available, that must be applied for before applying at the Merciful HELP Center as well. Please be aware that ALL applications must be accompanied by 2 CURRENT months of bank statements, credit card statements and proof of spending. NO applications are accepted with out this information.

• We do NOT assist with the following:

Phone (land line and/or mobile), cable, internet, credit card debt, tuition, taxes, car repairs. We cannot assist you if you are paying high fees for the above, not living within the means you can provide, or wasting resources. Please keep that in mind before submitting this application.

• The following requests will be considered:

Basic Need Expenses Only (Gas, Electric, Water, Rent/Mortgage payment)

The documents listed below must accompany your application. Applications will not be considered until all the documents on the list, that apply to you, are turned in. 2 current months of bank statements are a must, we cannot consider assistance without showing how your funds were spent.

This application will not be reviewed unless accompanied by the following paperwork.
Please make sure all documents are submitted:

• Application completed
• Copy of Driver’s License or Photo ID
• 2 latest COMPLETE bank statements (60 days total)
• 2 latest pay stubs, letters from employer (if paid under table), OR unemployment stubs/letters
• Copy of lease or mortgage statement
• Copy of all bills (including utilities, cable, phone, car payment, insurance, day care, etc.)
• Letter of decision from your local Township Trustee
• Decision letter from Community Action of Great Indianapolis (1-317-396-1800)

• Copy of letter from Food Stamp Office
• Copy of letter for Medicaid, HIP, or any government insurance
• Copy of letter of TANF (Temporary Aid for Needy Families)
• Copy of statement of child support or divorce decree, whichever states current assistance
